Lios Valdr is a bit different from Rún Valdr. At least how I ended up using it is different. First difference is that Rún Valdr only has the one level of attunement, while there are many, many levels to Ljos Valdr.
I began using the Sama symbol, eventually filling myself with the energy and trying to become one with it. Then I received a symbol while connected with Ljos Heim. When I asked what the symbol was for I was told that it was like Sama, but better. The new symbol was much more potent. So much so that while it felt good, it was strong enough to give me a headache as I was overloaded with the energy. It should be noted that the overload headache was in a different place than the infernal/necromantic type of headache. I would say that when dealing with infernal/necromantic energies the danger is getting eaten. Working with Ljos Heim the danger is blowing out your circuits. I call this type of symbol the keystone symbol as it taps directly into Ljos Heim and also represents that plane.
I got other symbols and started playing with this new system. When using the symbols of Ljos Valdr, I didn’t use a focusing symbol like Shai Nal. I just pictured the symbols I wanted to work with and then used an energy activation symbol to get the energy going. This means that effectively you can only use a number of symbols that you can visualize simultaneously. For me that is around four to five, depending on how complex the symbols are.
Important symbols were the keystone symbol, an energy activation symbol, a sealing symbol, a symbol to increase one’s infrastructure and an energy conduit from Ljos Heim to whatever target you want. The infrastructure one is important so that you can increase the amount of Ljos Heim energy you can handle. These are the really necessary symbols. Another good one is a symbol to gain unity with the Ljos Heism. I would consider these the basic symbols for Ljos Valdr.
I spend a great deal of time using the keystone symbol, the unity symbol and the increase infrastructure symbol so that I grow into the current level, allowing the energy to become more and more comfortable and familiar. Sometimes, especially after creating conduits to all my chakras I feel overwhelmed with the energy and just use the infrastructure symbol to help normalize things. The early stages of a new level can be rough.
Once I was comfortable with the amount of energy at this level, I asked for symbols for the next higher level of power. I got the basic symbols and then once I could handle the energy, I got symbols for the next higher level. Currently my plan is to spend time getting a wide variety of symbols at the odd levels and trying to get past the even levels as fast as possible. But go at a pace that works for you.
If one were to follow in my footsteps, I would propose the following:
If you want to spend extra time with each level, go for it. Get whatever symbols you want. I typically also get a healing symbol at each level. I also make sure to set up conduits to each of my chakras to help with extra energy flow at each level. If I get a symbol to attune objects, I make sure that it won’t leave a link between me and the object after it’s created and that it also includes a built in conduit so the item will be self-powering.
When ready, you can move to the next level. I would recommend setting up permanent conduits to your chakras at each level. This fills you with energy of this plane and gives you practice working directly with this energy. Don’t feel a need to start a new level too soon as this will be tempting. This energy is potent and one needs to become accustomed to it before moving on. I’ve noticed that as you go up in levels the energy not only gets stronger (which could burn you out), but also gains a vastness, a larger dimension to the energy that is hard to explain. Most of this extra quality will just go past you without you really getting a grip on it until you can handle the properties of that particular Ljos Valdr level. You will miss out on a lot if you don’t spend time coming to grips with the current level first.
There is an entity you may meet who seems to deal with helping people to integrate the Ljos Heim energy. It is stressed that you try to get in touch with this entity as soon as you can, once you start getting symbols directly from Ljos Heim. I won’t go into details as far as description, the name, or symbol of this entity. I don’t want to get in the way of people’s exploration of this place, and instill any biases I may have regarding the matter. My hope is that if many people make contact with this entity, it can form something other that just my own UPG.
I have also met with three of the Rulers of this plane. This was for a Ljos Valdr magical system that is being developed. There are hints that there may be more out there to interact with. It goes without saying that this as a new frontier of exploration and discovery.
I have thought long and hard at how much I wanted to reveal about Ljos Valdr to the general public. I even went so far as to get a general attunement symbol and system for Ljos Valdr level one. The more I delve into this realm, and deal with the entity I have found, the more loath I am to explain too much. Normally I’m the first to spill the beans, but this time there is a reticence. I’m sure some people would argue that I have given away too much information already. Others would argue I’m being too vague.
Overall, I feel that Ljos Valdr is a journey that one must travel on their own. I have given the first steps but the rest is up to you. I have found it to be worth the effort as the power level really is greater that what is found in Rún Valdr and the energy, to me at least, is pleasant and wholesome. As a further comment, I find the energy to be rather cool in nature. One other attractive feature is a way to work towards greater levels and ability to handle and work with larger amounts this energy. It is a system you can grow into.
